Tips on Making the Most of Your Visit
Before you go...
- Make a written list – Make a list of everything you want done or redone in your yard
and home even if it’s only a dream. - Measure - Jot down measurements, include sketches and color samples.
- Take pictures - Visuals are the best way to relay your thoughts when discussing projects with exhibitors. Pictures will also help the exhibitors understand your needs.
- Check areas of your home for winter damage.
- Prioritize!
While at the show...
- Take advantage of having so many experts all on one floor and in one place.
- Visit the landscaped gardens – this years’ theme is ‘Hats Off to Entertaining.’
Landscapers offer their own interpretations of the theme. Is your yard ready for outdoor entertaining? Talk to the professionals. - What’s hot in outdoor and indoor rooms? Get ideas vignettes designed for great living. (a complete list is on the the Exhibitor List tab)
- Need renovation therapy? Everything you need for your remodeling project is at the show, so...
- Visit every exhibitor, you may find something not on your list.
- Use your list and take notes when visiting the exhibitors.
- Brochures are a great way to get general information about a product, but face to face discussions with professionals are very important. Get business cards too.
- Ask questions. Including, how long will the project take? Are there any benefits? Are there any cost-saving alternatives? How long has the product been out? Don’t be shy.
- Compare pricing, services and offerings of one exhibitor to another before making your final decision. Take advantage of so many experts under one roof.
- Deal - show specials or discounts are offered too. Begin your first steps on projects you have been delaying.
- Get more mpg from your home. Federal tax credits are available for windows, doors, roofs, appliances, HVAC, insulation, solar, geothermal...the list goes on. Visit energystar.gov for more detailed information.
- Wear comfortable shoes!
- When you get home make sure you keep your brochures and business cards. They will serve as a great resource for your projects.
